Join the Chorus for Jonathan Dove’s New Community Opera, Uprising
Do you want to be part of a new community opera that tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time? Here’s your chance! There are opportunities for local singers, who are over 18, to join the Adult Chorus for Jonathan Dove’s brand-new opera, Uprising. This compelling work, written by renowned Opera composer Jonathan Dove with a libretto by April De Angelis, will have its concert hall premiere at Saffron Hall in March 2025.
Uprising delves into the climate emergency through the eyes of those most affected—the young. With a narrative that spans teenage rebellion, the power of the internet, and family dynamics, this opera asks urgent questions about our present and future. At its heart, it gives a persuasive voice to nature and young adults, challenging audiences to rethink their approach to the climate crisis.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conductor Ellie Slorach, Director Sinead O'Neill, and professional soloists.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis up until the project launch on 15 October.
For more information, download the Uprising Adult Chorus Pack, and if you wish to apply, fill in the application form.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of something extraordinary.
