Aurora & Pekka Kuusisto
Aurora & Pekka KuusistoPresented by Saffron Hall
Aurora and the brilliant, mercurial Pekka Kuusisto might just be a perfect pairing for Vivaldi’s vivid depiction of the wild, untamed outdoors - four concertos, one journey through the year from Spring to Winter.
Its mix of verve, humour, and visceral energy seem as fresh now as ever, and ripe for the extraordinary talent and imagination of the restlessly inventive Kuusisto. With the help of Ale Carr, a renowned exponent of the traditional mandolin-style instrument the cittern, Kuusisto weaves tiny folk tunes and improvisations into passages that link the four movements together. This one-hour long programme starts with Caroline Shaw's charming homage to the magnificent grounds and formal gardens of Dumbarton Oaks estate, Washington DC. A typically imaginative project from kindred spirits.
