Les Arts Florissants

Les Arts Florissants

Presented by Saffron Hall

“Let their sweetness, through mine ear / Dissolve me into ecstasies.” To live in thoughtful moderation or to surrender to unbridled humour?

Handel’s rarely-heard work on the poetry of Milton is performed in this Saffron Hall debut by legendary Baroque director William Christie and his French ensemble Les Arts Florissants with all their celebrated flamboyance and flair.

Pre-concert talk 5.45-6.30pm
In a pre-concert conversation free to all ticket-holders, William Christie talks with writer and critic Nicholas Kenyon about his long adventures with Les Arts Florissants exploring early music, his love of Handel, and introduces the remarkable music of L’Allegro.
