Britten Sinfonia: Vaughan Williams 150th Anniversary concert

Britten Sinfonia: Vaughan Williams 150th Anniversary concert

Presented by Britten Sinfonia

Thomas Gould and Britten Sinfonia in concert.

A very special evening of pastoral music celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams.

His elegiac and yearning Oboe Concerto is a perfect partner to the soaring melodies of The Lark Ascending, performed here alongside music by Holst, Sibelius, Bridge and Grace Williams, who was a contemporary of Benjamin Britten at the Royal College of Music in the 1930s.
