Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra - Chopin & Sibelius

Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra - Chopin & Sibelius

Presented by Saffron Hall

Two of the most tempestuous orchestral works in the repertoire bookend a charming and vivacious piano concerto. The granitic and windswept nature of Sibelius’s Symphony No 1, which portrays the Nordic homeland of the composer in all its elemental majesty, owes an undoubted musical debt to Wagner’s depiction of a cosmic thunderstorm from Das Rheingold. Chopin’s Concerto No.1 provides an urbane, sparkling contrast.

This concert will finish at approximately 4.55pm
