Thibaut Garcia plays the guitar in luxurious darkened hallway

The swirling dances of 19th-century Vienna are a delight guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The ever-versatile BBC Concert Orchestra combine the flamboyance and richness of a central European winter tradition with something a little more intimate. Rodrigo’s instantly recognisable and beloved guitar concerto adds Spanish sunshine to Viennese decadence, its famous slow movement a gorgeous moment of calm amongst the hurly-burly, the Iberian dance rhythms of outer movements every bit as spritely as the music produced by Johann Strauss II and his contemporaries. Like any good festive celebration, this party has elegance, excess, changes of pace and mood and a few surprises!
