Saffron Walden Choral Society

Saffron Walden Choral Society

Presented by Saffron Walden Choral Society

A concert full of melody and ethereal beauty, celebrating man’s ability – through appreciation of music and nature – to transcend grief and reach beyond our earth into the universe to find eternal peace.

Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, settings of the metaphysical poet George Herbert, provide the starting point for an exploration of English choral music from the past 30 years. Cecilia McDowall’s Da Vinci Requiem uses texts from the requiem mass and the philosophical writings of Leonardo da Vinci. Music by Will Todd and Jonathan Dove, whose Arion and the Dolphin the choir performed so memorably in 2022, are also included.
