Saffron Walden Choral Society - Handel: Israel in Egypt

Saffron Walden Choral Society - Handel: Israel in Egypt

Presented by Saffron Walden Choral Society

Massed choir and instrumentalists take bows on a modern stage

The Brook Street Band join Saffron Walden Choral Society to perform this acclaimed work.

Handel’s oratorio Israel In Egypt is dominated by dramatic virtuosic choruses. The text follows the story of the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt, with vivid evocations of hailstones, lightning, plagues of frogs, flies and lice and the crossing of the Red Sea. It culminates with the celebratory “Sing ye to the Lord; for He hath triumphed gloriously”.
