Originally written in 2006, Amid the Noise features a set of short pieces exploring noise in its many forms, conceived as small soundtracks for everyday moments in everyday life. The piece has been growing and changing ever since. In November 2018, 21 Year 9 students at Saffron Walden County High School took part in a special multi-disciplinary project in collaboration with award-winning percussion ensemble Sō Percussion. Over three days, the students and Sō Percussion worked together to explore and develop brand new material for Amid the Noise, the result of which was performed as part of Sō Percussion's Saffron Hall concert on 23 November 2018.
