We are now Saffron Music Trust
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the power of live music – wherever they live in the county, whatever their age or background.
From our home at Saffron Hall, our work now reaches across Essex, bringing outstanding artists into schools and communities, supporting local music-making and presenting high-quality live performances across the county.
Our plans
In our first year over 3,000 Harlow residents enjoyed Sunday Night at the Musicals at their new bandstand and folk fans in Brentwood attended a folk club in their town for the first time in years. As part of Saffron Music live! over 2,000 primary school children from 27 schools from Clacton to Southend experienced our in-theatre concerts, while 38 in-school workshops reached an estimated 4,000 more, and this is just the start. Already this season, in partnership with Harlow District Council, we brought the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra to perform Proms in the Town Park, a free celebration of live music for the community attended by more than 8,500 people. We launched a new concert series at Chelmsford Cathedral featuring our Associates and are developing Brentwood Folk Club to be a locally led. Further in-school and theatre concerts across Essex will reach even more pupils this year, including pre-school and secondary school children.
Saffron Hall has shown what can happen when exceptional music, education and community come together. Now, through Saffron Music Trust, we are taking that ambition across Essex – creating opportunities to be inspired by, experience and participate in music, and bring more live music to more people, in more places.
We would like to acknowledge and thank our Associate Ensembles and Artists – The Sixteen, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Britten Sinfonia and Jess Gillam – with their help, we aim to reach more children and communities than ever before.
