Friday Night is Music Night: A Celebration of Gilbert and Sullivan

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £20

Price includes a commission of £1.00

The world’s longest-running live orchestral music show celebrates the genius of one of the best-known librettist/composer duos of them all.

The perfect match of William Gilbert’s words and Arthur Sullivan’s music produced a string of hit operettas whose very names are guaranteed to raise a smile. With their plots of communist gondoliers, incompetent pirates, dim-witted bureaucrats and the creaking institution of the House of Lords the most famous targets, their satire still has teeth. Whether in rapid-fire patter songs, rousing choruses or touching love duets, their combination of sparkling wit and lyrical charm have secured their place in our affections; the BBC Concert Orchestra and Singers remind us just why.
