Presented by Saffron Hall

Karine Polwart, multi-award winning Scottish singer, songwriter and storyteller collaborates with pianist, improviser and composer Dave Milligan for a sumptuously intimate collection of songs.

Their critically lauded 2021 duo album Still As Your Sleeping is deceptively simple, yet devastatingly powerful. "One voice and one piano can hold a lot of space, a lot of feeling", says Polwart. "Some of these songs are brand new, whilst others have been on my tongue for two decades and more”.

It’s an album threaded with images of stillness and flux, leaving and returning and includes the timeless, poignant song of farewell The Parting Glass that was requested by Margaret Atwood to memorialise her husband on her specially curated BBC Radio 4 Today programme.

“Hushed delicate and immense”
- Financial Times on The Parting Glass

“When the storm has blown away
and the night is as still as your sleeping
I’ll pluck out the skelf [splinter] of the moon from the sky
and I’ll give it to you for safekeeping.”
- Travel These Ways Karine Polwart (words and music)
