Once Upon a Tune: Spooky Stories

Once Upon a Tune: Spooky Stories

Presented by Words in Walden

A illustration of a wizard casting a spell, and a child who is tossed about in a fearsome sea

Come and enjoy some of the best-loved and spookiest musical treats in an extravaganza of music, painting, and stories for families, with children’s author-illustrator James Mayhew, Antonio Reche-Martinez, and Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra.

The programme includes Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre, Humperdinck’s Witch’s Ride, Wagner’s Flying Dutchman and more.

James tells the stories and then he and Antonio paint live on stage, capturing the spine-chilling scenes, while the Orchestra plays.

Their paintings will be raffled at the end of the Concert, and all profits go to Refugease, a charity supporting refugees all around the world.
