Saffron Opera Group: Tannhäuser

Saffron Opera Group: Tannhäuser

Presented by Saffron Opera Group

A performance of Parsifal on the Saffron Hall stage.

Please note, this is a rescheduled event from September 2021. All ticket holders have been contacted.

A battle between sex and love – are they the same? or mutually exclusive? – runs through the heart of Wagner’s Tannhäuser, making it one of his most direct and devastating works. After an unbroken string of Wagnerian triumphs (‘Remarkable… superb’ The Telegraph), Saffron Opera Group presents the opera - in the ballet-rich Paris version - with a cast of exciting young singers and established stars.

SOG favourite Elaine McKrill sings the temptress Venus, award-winning young soprano Samantha Crawford is the pure-hearted Elisabeth, and star tenor Neal Cooper (Tannhäuser) is the knight torn between them. With the superb Andrew Greenan as Landgraf, and acclaimed Wagner expert Michael Thorne conducting, it’s set to be another coup for SOG.
