A New Year's Celebration

A New Year's Celebration

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £20

Price includes a commission of £1.00

A New Year that transports us westwards to US for a selection of the most uplifting and popular orchestral music of the twentieth century. That great American export, jazz, sits at its very centre - Gershwin’s mini piano concerto Rhapsody in Blue and hits songs from Broadway to the opera house - some of the finest love songs ever written.

Copland’s stirring fanfare and infectious ballet music stir the spirits, before Gershwin returns us to Europe: An American in Paris is the song of a great city, capturing the hubbub, elegance and romance of the City of Light, immortalised in Gene Kelly’s dance routines in the classic film. An afternoon of transatlantic treasures.
