The Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment turn 40 this season. What better way of celebrating four decades of making music than unleashing the individual and collective virtuosity of this world-leading orchestra.
Vivaldi’s astonishing achievements go far beyond The Four Seasons. Like all great masters of their art, Vivaldi drew on existing foundations and expanded and rebuilt them. Revelling in a rich palette of colours and the intricacy of instrumental interplay, his innovations meant the baroque concerto would never be the same again. These are elegant, brilliant showpieces that pave the way for Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, and shine a light on the OAE’s outstanding principal players and their tight-knit orchestral sections. A vibrant jamboree of virtuosity and a fitting way to celebrate a significant milestone.
