Aurora & BBC Singers

Aurora & BBC Singers

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £18

Price includes a commission of £1.00

The ever-creative Aurora always throw new light on the familiar, through imaginative collaborations, presentation styles, commissions and programming.

Here they pair up with the BBC Singers in a programme curated by artist and writer Edmund de Waal, around the theme of Psalms. It is difficult to imagine a more uplifting pairing of sacred music than the Magnificat and Chichester Psalms, pieces that show Bach and Bernstein at their most big- hearted, energetic and affirmative. The programme is enhanced by a new work from American Nico Muhly, whose approachable, emotionally- direct choral music is forged in a love of the Anglican sacred music traditions. Hebrew and Christian, Lutheran Germany and Anglo Saxon (via the noise and haste of New York City), these psalms and prayers celebrate the Divine with dancing feet in an effervescent spiritual triptych.
