Chopin’s set of twenty-one Nocturnes trace his life and composing career from his teens to his last years. Soaked in the full range of piano colours, these ‘night songs’ are the essence of the composer; delicate, elegant, voluptuous, melancholy. Displaying his ear for colour, line and pacing and a poetic sensibility, the brilliant young pianist Pavel Kolesnikov digs deep into these deeply felt miniatures, a cornerstone of the Romantic piano repertoire.
