As their recent Beethoven Triple Concerto disc with another Saffron Hall favourite Nicola Benedetti proved, Benjamin Grosvenor and Sheku Kanneh-Mason are poised and intuitive chamber music collaborators.
A partnership of trail-blazing, multi-faceted young musicians, they seem destined to form a perfectly balanced duo of equals, with crystalline clarity, a natural, unforced elegance and sweet-toned lyricism hallmarks of their playing.
Rachmaninov’s astonishingly virtuosic, lushly Romantic sonata is the centrepiece of a programme that features the delicate, enigmatic miniatures of Nadia Boulanger, Beethoven’s buoyant Sonata and his genial riff on a famous aria from Mozart’s Magic Flute.
