Londinium Consort & Georgi Dimitrov

Londinium Consort & Georgi Dimitrov

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £5

Price includes a commission of £1.00

A concert that straddles the reigns of Queens Elizabeth I and II, with music from the late sixteenth century and our own times.

The prestigious New Elizabethan Award is awarded to outstanding interpreters of the music from these golden eras, times of rapid change and flourishing creativity in these isles and beyond. The great English renaissance composer, lutenist and singer John Dowland is at its heart, his compositions of fragile beauty, elegance and melancholy providing inspiration for artists and audiences some four centuries on. The age of Shakespeare provides the spur for Henze’s character-driven sonata, and Elizabethan airs, dances and traditional tunes mingle with brand new music from emerging composers to complete a programme where the old and the new intersect.
