A trio of Romantic composers in a programme destined to appeal to the heart, the head – and the feet.

Dvořák sings and dances his way through a celebration of the Bohemian countryside he once called home, and a restless rhythmic vitality is the hallmark of Brahms’ bittersweet concerto and Schumann’s ingenious symphony. Brahms gives us turbulence and an athletic dance finale wrapped round a heart-rending song without words’ of a slow movement, whilst Schumann’s surging, soulful music contains coded messages of devotion to his wife Clara - a love-letter in symphonic form. Part of the LPO’s season Harmony with Nature, a programme proving that composers can be inspired by their natural surroundings, but also create craggy, imposing landscapes of their own.
